The Eye of the Stiorm
Weather patterns have been around seemingly since planet earth came into existence. But as the issues related to global warming are discussed on weather channels and in the news, it is becoming increasingly thought provoking. If you are aware of recent news broadcasts related to wildfires and flooding issues around the world, it doesn’t take much imagination to ponder the realities that global warming is more serious than first thought. It has been suggested that because of mankind’s constant abuse of the planet by expelling untold amounts of pollution into the atmosphere, that the planet is finding ways of purifying itself.
It is as though mankind’s indifference to the planet’s welfare is being singled out and if something drastic doesn’t happen soon to curb humanity’s abuse of the planet, these wildfires and floods may become increasingly severe. There is even speculation that volcano eruptions may join the planet’s attempt to self purify. These weather reactions take absolutely no thought to a nation’s economic health. To personify these weather situations it could be said that these weather reactions would not take into account who we are or where we live or how much money we have in the bank.
It would appear that humanity assisted in getting ourselves into this dilemma, and if we do not take these weather patterns seriously enough on a collective front, we all will pay a severe price. Take for instance our inability to relate to one another. On a global stage one country seeks to control another. Sometimes this control is through political intimidation and if that doesn’t work, then military force is used. Usually fear plays a large role in our inability to relate to one another. These weather situations do not take into account our political strongholds.
I have presented this reflection so far from a thirty-thousand foot view. What I want to suggest hopefully will bring the view down to the planet’s surface and even individualizing it to aid the reader to consider how the hurricane can offer some guidance for our daily lives. There have been hurricanes that have completely destroyed lives and property. The storm rotates counterclockwise around what is termed the eye. Within the eye of the storm there is only light breezes and often the clouds allow the sun to shine.
If one considers the chaos that is witnessed within those swirling winds, allow me to suggest that such emotional chaos is often swirling around our lives as well. I have certainly experienced such chaos. The part of our lives that hopefully we will take into consideration is what exists within our spiritual core. Much like the eye of the hurricane where there is a sense of peace, I would hold up for us to consider that within our spiritual core is a peace that passes all understanding that originates from our Source. Where we spend our time and our thoughts may determine whether we are caught up in the chaos of the storm or in the peace that passes all understanding within our spiritual core.
Ultimately the choice as to where we spend our time matters a great deal. I would suggest that we choose to enter the eye through meditation and in so doing we just may discover the peace that passes all understanding and it will indeed protect us from those swirling chaotic winds for they are very destructive. We are not alone and the Spirit of our Source guides each of us by providing light on our path. However, those chaotic winds are necessary in our spiritual development but they are not our Source. Encouragement is offered to learn from the effects of the chaos and in so learning we remember the importance of our Spiritual awareness for in it is true peace and love!
