Mind Over Matter
My entry today hopefully will put the reader on a particular journey of discovery. What I continue to explore within myself pertains to what I am personally discovering. These discoveries so overwhelm me to tears and gratitude that I just don’t have the words for their description. With that in mind, please consider your journey of discovery. This implies that what you will discover is already present within you otherwise there would be no opportunity for discovery. In other words, you can’t discover something that is not there!
I have titled this entry, “mind over matter.” What I hold up for your consideration has to do with our mind. Within humans the mind is the element, part, substance or process that reasons, thinks, feels, wills perceives or judges that which enters our thoughts. Psychologically, the mind is the totality of conscious or unconscious mental processes and activities as stated by dictionary.com.
In the new testament passage of Philippians chapter two and verse five we find the following: “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” As this passage came to my mind the other day, I began to hear this idea differently than ever before. It was as though the concept of having the mind of Christ in me was taking on a new form, much like a flowering plant revealing its first bloom of the season.
Consider the miracles Jesus the Christ performed as he walked the earth and how his mind was utilized within him. As he revealed the Father to us, he communicated that he only did what he saw his Father doing. That perhaps means that he had the mind of his Father within him. Paul the apostle is credited for revealing this idea of the mind of Christ in his letter to the Philippians. Is it possible that he revealed such an idea because of his own personal discovery of the mind of Christ in him?
When we “let” something in or occur it is usually because we give our permission for the occurrence. “Let” this mind be in you…” perhaps means that we have given ourselves permission to explore the possibilities that such a mind may already exist within ourselves and it is just a matter of time before we discover it. Jesus’ mission on earth was to reveal the Love of the Father of which we are all made. Unfortunately, due to the senseless lies we have believed about ourselves, the Love of the Father within each of us is so veiled over that we can only see and believe the lies.
If a discovery is to be made, then one has to earnestly search for it until it is found. Once the Love of the Father through Jesus the Christ is revealed within us the ramifications of such a discovery will only assist us in loving one another. The possibilities of what the mind of Christ can afford others through us will be difficult to describe but will bring an embrace unlike anything you have ever experienced before.
Finally, as the mind of Christ is revealed in us the only responsibility we have is described in the word “be.” Let this mind “be” in you. Perhaps the unveiling of this spiritual reality and its loving outreach to others is contained in our awareness of its presence within us. As we cross paths with our human family, we simply think about this Christ Mind that is within us and things will begin to happen just like it happened with Jesus as he did what he saw his Father doing. He never bragged or boasted about any of the miracles performed and when it begins to happen we will realize that such power comes from the Father through Jesus the Christ alone for whatever we do best, we do together in Christ. We will begin to do what we see Jesus and the Father doing and the mind of Christ will continue to love others through our awareness of Mind over matter!!!!
