Memory
It seems the more one reflects on various ideas, the more those ideas take on awarenesses that if given enough room to grow become increasingly profound. I have toyed with the idea of “remembrance” in other entries. I have written about how remembering can only happen when familiarity of an idea or object is front and center in our thinking. So how vital is memory? Or maybe asked another way, how does our memory serve us?
Remember this is only a reflection, but what I hope to offer here pertains to the possibilities that can surface as a result of the treasure that may be buried just beneath the surface of our thoughts. The idea I have been reflecting on for several months pertains to mankind’s purpose on planet earth. So I decided to google mankind’s purpose on planet earth and what I found wasn’t necessarily surprising. Mankind’s purpose, I discovered from google, was to survive and dominate among others.
So if it is possible to go in a different direction from survival and domination, allow me to offer the importance of memory and remembrance’s necessity as key to our purpose on planet earth. If it was important enough for Jesus to ask his disciples to remember him with the breaking of the bread and the sharing of the wine at the passover meal just before his death and resurrection, then I hold up for consideration that our purpose here is simply to remember.
It seems so simple yet the profoundness of what we are to remember is key to our spiritual survival. I’ve used this illustration before but I think it bears repeating. If you accidentally cut off one of your fingers, are then rushed to the hospital to have your finger reattached, then once the surgery is successfully completed, what has just occurred is the remembering of your finger. Once again, you can not remember, unless you were a member once. In other words, once we are awakened through remembrance to who we really are and have always been, then we begin to reflect this truth to those around us.
Jesus Christ the Anointed Son of God came to this planet to show us The Father so we can remember our existing established relationship with The Father in Christ Jesus. Remember, we were born from above. He knew us before he formed us in our mother’s womb. When we make the awakening discovery that we are made from LOVE then our purpose for being here is to share that LOVE and LIGHT with everyone.
The example of that finger that was accidentally severed from your hand, before it was reattached, was alienated from your body. Just because it was alienated from the body did not mean that it did not belong to your body. Even though it had no life flowing through it at the time there was hope for its reattachment. People who exist on planet earth who have not remembered who they are, walk around with a severed and detached mindset. That doesn’t mean they are separated from God. It just means they have not awakened to the LIGHT and LOVE reality that already exists within them.
The LIGHT is within you. This LIGHT often surfaces in a smile or a kind deed. When we remember who we are in Christ Jesus and that remembrance guides our path, then our purpose for being on planet earth comes into full view of our awakened memory. We belong to LOVE. So let your LOVE/LIGHT shine and in so being others will be attracted to the LIGHT because of its familiarity and the gates of not remembering shall not prevail!
