The Orchestrator
Back in my college days while working on a Bachelor of Music degree, one of the courses I was required to take was orchestration. The assignments given by my professor were most challenging. I became acquainted with orchestras, how the various instruments were arranged within the orchestra, kind of like a seating chart based on things like woodwind instruments, brass instruments, string instruments and percussion instruments. Then there was the learning curve associated with how the musical notation was arranged on the musical score not to mention having some idea of the instrument’s musical range and what key the instrument is played in. For instance, the trumpet can be a “C” instrument or even a “B flat” instrument. Knowing this will determine how the notes to be played are arranged on the musical score so once all this is taken into consideration the end product will be a musical piece that will be pleasant to hear and enjoy.
It’s been a long time since I took such a class and for those of you reading this entry who are far more adept at orchestration, please forgive me if I left something important out. That said, my thoughts ,while writing this, brings me to consider the awareness of the ultimate orchestrator. As I think about the universe we find ourselves in along with the glimpses shown by these amazing telescopes like the Hubble and the James Webb telescope, I sit in awe of the magnificence of these images. If we bring the distant universe with all of its galaxies closer to home we begin to maybe think about the milky way galaxy where the solar system that includes the planet earth upon which we live is located.
Thinking about a musical composition that the orchestrator has created where everything seems to fit together in such a way gives rise to the genius of the composer and the orchestrator. The space needed for our solar system to exist within our galaxy without crashing into other solar systems may say something about the forethought of putting this symphony together. As I think about it, I did leave something very valuable out regarding the orchestra. Every orchestra is directed by a Conductor. It makes perfect sense to me that the One who not only composed the score but orchestrated the various components is most honored to raise the baton to show the beauty of the Orchestrator’s creation.
And if that wasn’t enough the absolute significance of every player within the orchestra no matter what contribution is made, speaks volumes to our importance to the Orchestrator. You are Loved no matter what instrument you play. If you didn’t know you were part of this amazing symphony then allow me to introduce you to your dedicated and consecrated place where your loving contribution to what the Orchestrator has created speaks heavenly volumes about you and the love the Orchestrator has for you. So pick up that instrument because you already know how to play it and join in to make the music of the ages.
