The Embrace
The thought occurred to me the other day about beginnings and endings. There are several ways to express such a thought. We could say “start to finish” or “A” to “Z”. This kind of thinking is what has been described as linear. Linear thinking may be described by drawing a straight line with a pencil. Where the start of the line began would be the beginning and where the line stopped would be the end. I don’t mean to insult the reader’s intelligence but what I would like to raise up for consideration has a tendency to stray away from linear thinking.
It is recorded that Jesus seemed to make similar remarks that could be understood on a linear basis. He claimed to be the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. There is a belief that the world began with creation and due to all the corruption one day the world will come to an end. I don’t believe that, although I was raised to believe such nonsense. What I would like to suggest is an abandonment of linear thinking with the idea of embracing spherical thought.
What I am suggesting relates to the idea that our Heavenly Father is an ageless being. Because our Heavenly Father is ageless all of creation is also ageless. So here is what I am suggesting. Take the pencil with which you drew the straight line and instead draw a circle. Take the first letter of the english alphabet “A” and place it on any point of that circle . Now take your pencil and follow the line around the circle until you come to the letter “A” once again. Beside the letter “A” place the letter “Z.” What you have a picture of is the ageless nature of our Heavenly Father. There is no beginning or end but what I desire to draw your attention to, is related to what is inside the circle.
What is inside the circle is what our Heavenly Father embraces. What does Love embrace? You and Me. We are inside the embrace of our Heavenly Father and when Jesus came to earth, he came to “show us the Father.” The way Jesus showed us the Father was by mirroring the Father’s love. There is no end to our Heavenly Father’s love. Because Jesus is the visible representation of the invisible God, Jesus claimed to only do what he saw the Father doing. All the miracles Jesus performed were being performed by our Heavenly Father.
One other thought regarding the ageless nature of our Heavenly Father pertains to the distance between the east and the west. Jesus said, “As far as the east is from the west, so far have I removed your transgressions from you. If you think about it, our transgressions continue on the journey away from us as far as the east is from the west. So the next time you give consideration to beginnings and endings please remember the ageless nature and embrace of our Heavenly Father that is not linear but spherical and in that understanding Love Has No End!
