Connected

I am becoming increasingly aware that within the “simple” is where the complex seems to hide out. It sounds so paradoxical because perhaps it really is true. As I offer this reflection related to our connectedness, I hope the reader will take into account the differences surrounding your personal day to day experiences when connectedness is positively engaged and when it is not. My opinion related to connectedness, especially with those to whom I personally engage on a daily basis, has grown to a point that I cannot keep silent any longer. What I seek to share is very simple but consider the depth and the complexities lurking in the shadows awaiting to be discovered.

I have heard all my life that humans are individuals. I was taught that as an individual I was responsible for my actions and that somehow I was independent and self reliant. The definition of individualism is a social theory favoring freedom of action for individuals over collective or state control. To think of myself as an individual tends to separate me from those to whom I come in contact. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, individualism encompasses a value system, a theory of human nature, and a belief in certain political, economic, social, and religious arrangements. 

That said, I would like to hold up the idea that we as humans are all connected to one another. I continue to become aware that our connectedness with each other is based upon our origin. I have written in past entries that we are spirit beings made from Light and Love. We are ageless beings on a spirit journey. We are not human beings having a spiritual experience rather we are spirit beings having a human experience. 

What we encounter on a daily basis has the power to affect our lives whether it is positive or negative. Have you ever encountered a delivery associate entering a place of business pushing a hand truck full of packages? Upon his or her arrival at the door of the business where the delivery is being made the door being approached swings toward the delivery person. As you are approaching the same door, have you ever decided to hold open the door to allow the delivery person to enter the business? Most of us would think, of course I would have done that for the delivery person, but I bet there are situations when such did not occur. 

I trust my reflection will offer what happens within ourselves when we make the decision to do for others what we would hope others would do for us. When I do something of value for another, I get this amazing feeling inside my soul that causes me to sense the happiness I caused the other person. That sense of happiness is the witness of our connectedness. It works both ways. If I fail to do the obvious then the hurt I caused will be reflected within myself and the other person. I encourage all of us to look for opportunities everyday that will strengthen our awareness that we really are connected because we are all connected to our heavenly Source.
